Dr. J. J. Rawal, founder President of The Indian Planetary Society (IPS) born on 30th March 1943 at Sundernagar district, Gujarat. He received his M Phil in Physical Sciences from Calcutta University (1975) and Ph. D. in Astrophysics from University of Bombay (1992- Research Worked carried out at TIFR with Title of the Thesis ‘Some Problems in the Solar System and in Local Group of Galaxies’), a former Director, Nehru Planetarium and Director Astronomical Research, Nehru Planetarium, Mumbai. He has published about 25 research papers in National and International journals. Among other awards he received the National Award on Science and Technology Popularization, Government of India (NCSTC/ DST) in 1994. He is the author of many scientific and popular science books in the area of astronomy and others. He has also written many scripts and made video and live planetarium programmes, organized a number of sky observations programmes and delivered talks at various forums. He is an able administrator and organizer. For the last five years, he had developed the IPS as a good science and technology popularization organization involving people from all walks of life included students, teachers, scientists, industrialists, women, business community and others. In his personal capacity he has been appointed as advisor of various organizations and are associated with many other extra curricular activities. He is having over 30 years of experience on research in science and science popularization.

Mr. Dhruv K. Sahani
Administrative Officer
Mr. Dhruvkumar Sahani, B. Sc. Physics, worked as a Public Guide at Nehru Centre, Mumbai (2 years). Presently he is with the Indian Planetary Society as a Administrative Officer and Scientist since July 2001. He is also Circulation Manager of the Society's magazine Kids Science.
He has given many lectures on astronomy and planetary science to general public and students. He has also helped in producing several science books in Hindi language. He has also managed many science exhibitions and seminars.
His main interests are in the fields of astronomy and mathematics.
